1. The compliance scan is free
AlexiosTM evaluates a website at no charge. There is no fee to request a scan, no fee to apply, and no fee to receive the result. There is no monthly fee and no subscription of any kind.
2. What Aperture charges
Aperture charges one thing: a platform fee on payments a merchant processes through the Aperture platform. Nothing else.
The fee is banded by the volume a merchant processes in a calendar month, and each band applies only to the volume within it:
- 3.25% on the first $25,000
- 2.75% on volume from $25,000 to $100,000
- 2.25% on volume above $100,000
Worked example: a merchant processing $60,000 in a month pays $812.50 on the first $25,000 and $962.50 on the next $35,000, for a total of $1,775.
The fee is applied at the time each payment is processed and is deducted from that payment. Aperture does not invoice separately and does not take payment details from merchants.
3. The processor charges its own fees
The processor that handles the payment charges its own fees under its own agreement with the merchant. Those fees are set by the processor, are separate from Aperture's platform fee, and are not paid to Aperture. A merchant's total cost of accepting a payment is the processor's fees plus Aperture's platform fee.
Aperture is never the merchant of record. Aperture does not hold, receive, or move merchant funds at any point.
4. Refunds
When a merchant refunds a payment to its own customer, Aperture's platform fee on that payment is returned to the merchant in the same proportion as the refund. A partly refunded payment returns a proportionate part of the fee.
Refunds to a merchant's own customers are set by that merchant's own refund policy, not by Aperture. Aperture is not the seller and is not a party to the sale.
5. Disputed payments
Where a payment is disputed by a cardholder and the dispute is resolved against the merchant, Aperture's platform fee on that payment is returned to the merchant on the same basis as a refund.
Aperture may assist a merchant in responding to a dispute and may advise whether to contest or settle it. Aperture does not eliminate or prevent disputes and does not promise any dispute outcome. The outcome is decided by the card network and the processor.
6. Cancellation
The Merchant Agreement runs for an initial twelve months and then continues month to month, on the notice set out in that agreement. Aperture charges no cancellation fee and no termination fee.
Because the platform fee is charged only on payments actually processed, ending the agreement ends the fee. One thing continues after it ends: the Merchant Agreement restricts what the Merchant may do with the payment account Aperture opened, and with Aperture's findings, for twelve months afterwards. Section 9 of that agreement sets out exactly what that means.
7. Changes to fees
Any change to the fee bands is made on the notice set out in the Merchant Agreement. The current bands are always shown on the Pricing page of this site with their effective date.
